House of pillars is an urban addition in the central parts of Stockholm. The building is placed on a vacant lot on Storgatan 23, in the area of Östermalm, a quiet street close to Östermalmstorg. The context is a mix of buildings from 1700 stretching to the 1980s. The facade design is a synergy of several themes. By placing french balconies supported by pillars, the facade gets baroque qualities. Duplex apartments on the upper floors create an inverted Haussmann order where the façade stretches towards the sky. And the ocher-red colour melts in with Stockholm’s warm colour palette.
